Online business game for individuals and teams

The Utopia© business game enables the assessment of problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex situations for individuals, but also for teams.

Utopia© is fun and has a high level of acceptance among participants. The business game was tested by thousands of candidates across the world (managers, executives and specialists). Utopia was also validated by several statistical studies.

What is it about?

Participants rule over a fictitious island for 15 months – individual or in a group. The task consists of balancing three important cornerstones (finances, environment and standard of living) and bringing these to an acceptable level in case of setbacks. This can be done through increasing or reducing investments. The necessary background information, variables that can be analysed and trends that may or not be followed are available.

The challenges

Participants are faced with complicated problems and objectives, but also with moments of crisis that require an adaptation of strategy. The simulation takes 85 minutes. There are various phases during which participants are provided with an intermediate state of affairs. This way, they can decide whether or not to adjust the strategy. Whether presupposed objectives have been met is measured at the end of the simulation.

Utopia© can be perfectly applied during an assessment on various levels and measures the following competencies:

Utopia© can also be easily used as a team building activity. A team of people forms the government of the island and develops its own strategy. Other teams will probably take a different approach. It is important to see how participants cooperate and opt for a certain direction. Who takes the lead, who follows? Are decisions made easily, are risks taken or avoided?
